Staying Cool on a Hot Porch

    hot porch

Danny and Joe welcome callers’ questions each week on the Today’s Homeowner Radio Show.

Here’s a question from our March 28 broadcast:

Darryl wants to know how he can stay cool on his porch this summer.

Adding insulation would be a great idea. We recommend mineral wool insulation over fiberglass.  Either tension wires or inexpensive plywood could be used to hold the insulation in place.

Additionally, Darryl could consider an elastomeric coating called Dura-Brite. Dura-Brite, from a company called Henry, offers solar reflectivity that will definitely lower the temperature for the roof. it also does double duty by offering mildew resistance.

Listen to the embedded audio clip above for the answer! Read the blog from the March 28 show and listen to the full broadcast here
